Governor-appointed Chairman Jeffery Leving will host the free event from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 11 at St. Sabina Church 1210 W. 78<sup>th<\/sup> Place (near 78th and Racine) \u00a0in Chicago.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Father Michael Pfleger will welcome participants, followed by speakers who will offer unique insights and solutions to the heartbreaking headlines of violence dominating today\u2019s news. Chairman Leving will moderate<\/p>\n<p><strong>Featured speakers include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Howard Lathan, Chicago Area Project, <em>Changing the Culture of Violence \u2013 Strengthening the Communities of Men,<\/em> a panel discussion<\/li>\n<li>Robert Messemer, \u00a0FBI Special Agent (retired) <em>Protecting Our Children from Internet Risks<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Dr. Odel Sterling, III , D.Min., Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation, \u00a0<em>A Father\u2019s Story of Loss<\/em><\/li>\n<li>LaVonte Stewart<em>, <\/em>executive director of Lost Boyz, <em>Scoring a Homerun Against Crime<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Invited special guests include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IL Gov. Pat Quinn<\/li>\n<li>U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis<\/li>\n<li>Radio Host Erich &#8220;MANCOW&#8221; Muller<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About the ICRF<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The ICRF council is comprised of experts from all professions and walks of life. Each member is dedicated to strengthening families by supporting unwed and divorced dads in Illinois. The goal of the symposium is to empower fathers and provide them survival strategies to take home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chairman Leving, a fathers\u2019 rights attorney and advocate serves at the pleasure of the governor.<strong> <\/strong>His latest book,<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/How-Good-Divorced-Dad-Break-Up\/dp\/1118114108\"><em>How to Be a Good Divorced Dad<\/em><\/a>, was endorsed by the Archdiocese of Chicago and praised by President Obama.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ICRF is here to help discover a solution to the issue of father absence by promoting positive paternal involvement and contributing resources to support all fathers in all communities,\u201d said Chairman Leving.<\/p>\n<p>Positive father involvement has been shown to improve academic test scores, reduce the teenage pregnancy, and encourage confidence in children.
